Our Story

In the summer of 2022, we had a moment of clarity. One night, we sat down and asked ourselves what we truly wanted out of life.

And the following morning we made a bold decision…

We quit our jobs to start working on our own game. Financially, it’s been a WILD RIDE (not gonna lie, our wallets have seen better days), but in every other way, it’s been absolutely worth it.

ERROR THING

Everything is a little off… Play it anyway.

Deperson

Deperson started as a small idea, just a few sketches on paper. Those sketches grew into paragraphs of story which then blossomed into pages of script. After years of dedication, that script has evolved into the game of our dreams.

It’s a labor of love, and we can’t wait to share it with you!!!!

MEET THE TEAM

Su Koyukan Tok

Hey everyone, I’m Su. I handle the art and social media. I also write the story and come up with room ideas and I keep pestering my teammates until they reply. Honestly, I’m kind of a workaholic. I don’t really do much outside of working.

When I’m not working, my favorite thing is watching horror movies. I love anything related to horror. It gives me a strange sense of comfort. I once read that it’s because of “controlled stress.” Lately, I’ve been dreaming about moving to the countryside and raising chickens and ducks.

I like listening to DSBM and doom metal. But not always. Sometimes Linkin Park is better…

INTJ

My favorite game is Bloodborne, even though I’m terrible at it. But I guess that’s what love is… You don’t give up, even if it’s hard.

My favorite film is Pulse by Kurosawa. It’s so deeply depressing and unsettling. I think my version of hell would be becoming a ghost in this world. An endless loop of cold loneliness and nothingness. I could talk about this film all night.

Still, if I had to mention an inspiration and someone incredibly important to me, it would be Katsuhiro Otomo. I love everything he’s done especially Memories and Akira. The first anime I ever watched was even Metropolis. I was a small child, and all the things I didn’t understand back then still changed me. This is how important he is to me...

I guess that’s all I have to say… I love my cat Arwen so much I’m really grateful to serve her. And of course, my family and friends too. I also really love our community. Whenever I feel down, their kind comments make me happy. I’m so glad they are here. I hope we can create something people truly love.

Game Design

(By game design I mean turning Su’s insane ideas and scene concepts into something that can actually function as a video game without collapsing into chaos.) I also design puzzles and try to keep things playable before we accidentally traumatize the player too hard.

I never thought playing this many video games would become useful at some point in my life. Weird. Now I’ve somehow become the person constantly saying things like: “In games, this usually works better like this.” or “Games normally don’t do that. Let’s not overdo it.”

INTP

I also handle a lot of assistant-type responsibilities… official documents, taxes, spreadsheets, paperwork, formal communication, emails, phone calls… Pffffff.

So yeah. A lot of random things. (Even the website you’re reading right now is included in that.)

They get mad at me for consuming amounts of coffee that I strongly recommend nobody else ever attempts. I tell them that in the 18th and 19th centuries, people who drank less coffee than this weren’t considered real musicians.

They also ask why I only sleep once every 48 hours. Whenever I realize I can’t escape the health-concerned people with more unnecessary explanations, I just say: “Why do you care? These are the orders of Indrija.”

I’m an extremely private person. I don’t even really use social media. So while writing this, I realized I haven’t actually mentioned a single thing I genuinely like. So here’s one deeply personal fact about me:

I suffer from a terrible condition that can only be cured by getting 100% achievements in every Soulslike and Roguelike game on Earth. Working on Deperson has dealt massive damage to my treatment. (I wrote “has dealt” for future-proofing. Going back and editing this into past tense after the game is finished sounds exhausting...)

MEET THE TEAM

BİLGE KAĞAN AKTAŞ

Hello hello, I’m Bilge Kağan. I handle all the Unity and programming side of things.

And whenever I manage to lift my head out of that chaos, my team lovingly throws a rope around my neck and drags me into game design and level design too.

(Though my sweet little team keeps insisting I should focus only on the battles I’m currently fighting.) (And yes yes, I genuinely love them very much <3) (I mean it, seriously.)

Since I’m both a workaholic and the willing slave of my own work, people in the office usually throw food and affection at me to keep me alive. Back then, when I actually had free time, I used to watch anime, play games, wander around, and try all kinds of different hobbies.

ENFP

But nowadays, whenever I manage to create even a tiny bit of time for myself, I only play tennis. And only tennis.

I can’t really say I have one favorite movie, anime, or music genre… but there’s one game series that will NEVER change for me. Everrrrrr. Honestly, even Deperson itself could maybe reach second place at best or share the first spot. And that series is Borderlands. I feel like its world reflects my inner self in a weird way.

But beyond all of that, my babies Köpük, Tarçın, Lokum, and Suzu play a huge role in keeping me sane and helping me escape stress, and I love them soooo much. Like reaaaaally a lot. Of course, I can’t skip my family and friends either, because I wouldn’t have made it this far without their support and motivation.
